Healthy Places Framework for early childhood services

Using the Healthy Places Framework for your service’s health and wellbeing priorities.

Health and wellbeing supports learning, engagement and a positive service culture. When they are part of everyday service life, children are better able to learn and staff and families feel supported.

Health and wellbeing priorities can be different for every service and may change over time. The Healthy Places Framework helps services respond to these priorities using a clear, whole‑service approach.

The Flexible Action Guide supports services to use the framework for service‑identified or emerging priorities.

The Healthy Places Framework is grounded in the World Health Organisation and UNESCO’s Health Promoting Schools model and provides a clear, repeatable way to embed health and wellbeing across service life.

This whole‑service approach is reflected in six interconnected action areas. Together, they support lasting health and wellbeing benefits across all areas of service life.
